News for Software M10-V2.2.3.24
Image and Exposure Control
- The camera software can now set to individual exposure times for the image sensors. Even extreme differences in brightness detected by the two image sensors are handled well now.
- Full frame rate is now attained by the left image sensor as well.
- Dual image and picture-in-picture modes are available for Day/Night models.
- Automatic day/night switch (Night models only) improved by occasional evaluation of Day sensor to avoid locking on the Night sensor when IR illumination is used or when night mode is set manually.
Note: When trying to manually switch from day to night mode by covering the Day sensor (right lens as seen by the camera), the software may require up to 17 minutes to return to day mode.
- The new Gray World color profile can be used for white balance if all other color profiles produce unsatisfactory results.
Events, Actions and Messages
- Second Video Motion (VM2) event with separate window definitions available (click on More). VM windows are displayed with darker dotted (bbbwbbbwbbb...) frames, while VM2 windows have brighter dotted (bbwwbbwwbbww) frames (where b = black and w = white).
- Video Motion (VM, VM2) may be extended to the image sensor that is not shown on the Live screen using the Dual Lens Video Motion parameter.
Note: This may reduce the frame rate.
- Video Motion (VM, VM2) windows from the right image sensor can be used on the left image sensor when camera switches from Day to Night mode (Night models only). Use the Copy Video Motion Definitions parameter in Event Settings to control this behavior.
- Events can be linked logically by evaluating two sets of events. You may define two different (logical) Event Logic events, EL and EL2.
Note: These events should be used for filtering actions and messages.
- Event Logic allows evaluating logical AND relationships between events, including order of occurrence, sliding time window and minimum time between events. This provides a method for detecting direction of motion.
- When arming the camera using signal input (e.g. a key switch), arming is delayed by 60 seconds to allow leaving the camera's image area; this delay is counted down at the bottom of the image.
- Improved Signal Input: Up to four signal input events (SI, SI2, SI3, SI4) can be set, using the signal input pin and the pins of the serial interface (extended signal input). Besides detecting the current state (open or closed), you may also trigger upon rising, falling or changing signal flanks.
- De-Bounce Time prevents uncontrolled flip-flopping of signal input events.
- FTP Profiles: When using temporary file names for FTP transfers, the new Enable, delete before rename option will delete an existing file before renaming the temporary file. This option is intended for FTP on Microsoft IIS servers as IIS does not support renaming to an existing file name.
- When using FTP transfers, JPEG clip files will be stored in a common directory.
- When using FTP transfers, MxPEG clip files will be stored in a common directory named after the first frame number of the clip.
- Control of signal output (SO) removed from LED Setup dialog and new link to test signal output has been added to the Actions dialog.
- The standard softbuttons Actions enable and Actions disable of the Player screen have been replaced by the Recording on and Recording off buttons. These softbuttons will no longer activate/deactivate the complete event control, but only event recording.
Extended Access Control
- Access to function sets like live image, recorded image, image link, and image control vs. event control etc. can be permitted to groups of users by defining Group Access Control Lists.
- Up to 10 access groups can be defined in Group Access Control Lists.
- Up to 30 users can be be assigned to access groups in User Groups and Passwords.
- Public Access to function sets can be granted or denied in Group Access Control Lists. (In former versions everything was public that was not protected by a password.)
- Enabling access to Screen/View basic function groups in Group Access Control Lists will set necessary additional access rights for the group, but can removed manually one by one.
- Administrator group admins cannot be removed in User, Groups, and Passwords . At least one member of that group (not necessarily called "admin") cannot be removed.
- New user names, group names and passwords may only contain these characters: "A-Z", "a-z", numbers, "_", "." and "-". Old user names and passwords will be kept.
- Minimum length for user and group names is 3, maximum length is 16 characters.
- Minimum length for passwords is 5, maximum length is 8 characters.
- New users may be created using the undefined group. This is intended behavior to allow presetting users and assigning them to groups later on.
Network, Phone
- Incoming SIP calls can be restricted to allowed phone numbers in the Phone Call-In dialog.
- ISDN data transfer: disabled compression for protocol headers for shorter delay and better performance.
- Camera Information lists all ports the camera is listening on.
Miscellaneous
- New link to Manage Other Cameras dialog in Admin Menu.
- Background image can be set in Language and Entry Page.
- Announcement of IP address and network information by pressing a camera button can be disabled in the Loudspeaker and Microphone dialog.
- Support of two weather stations added (Reinhardt and Davis) that are connected to the serial interface. For additional information, see MOBOTIX Kurzanleitung Wetterstation (MOBOTIX Weather Station Manual, German). To configure weather stations, open Serial Interface and Modem Setup and set Serial Interface to Weather.
- When using an NTP time server for periodic time synchronization, one camera may provide NTP time service for all other cameras. This will also work if the connection to the NTP time server fails.
- When an external time server is not available or the connection is shaky, one camera can be used to run as backup time server On the "time server" camera, enter the IP address
127.127.1.0 as time server and enter the "time server" camera's IP address as time server on the other cameras.

Audio and Phone
Full-Fledged VoIP Integration: 
Using the SIP protocol, all features that were only available with ISDN, can now also be used with SIP or soft phones: Manage Voice Messages, Phone Profiles, Phone Call-In and Camera Phone as well as Messaging and Messaging 2.
Image Storage on the LAN
Event Storage in External Ring Buffer:
When using Event Storage on an external file server, the camera can periodically copy the logfile for event storage, the web server logfile and the system messages to the file server.
User Interface
Background Image:
Freely selectable background image for the browser-based user interface by selecting any image file stored in the camera.
Other
Display of Data From Weather Stations:
If the serial interface has been set to Weather mode, the camera can display the data from a supported weather station in the image. Special weather variables are used to position the corresponding data within the image. On top, the camera can record the weather station's data and automatically send it to an FTP server for further processing.

System Information
Backup Operating System:
A camera that has booted using its backup operating (e.g. after Updating the System Software has failed) will display its name and type on a red background.
Security
Web Server Logfile:
The Web Server Logfile dialog logs all accesses to the camera and thus allows detecting unauthorized and failed access attempts.
Network Setup
Ethernet Packet Statistics
The Camera Status dialog (
button) now also contains statistical information on lost IP packets and collisions.
Transfer Profiles
Enhanced E-Mail Profiles:
The E-Mail Profiles dialog allows sending JPEG comments (image data from the JPEG header), JPEG images, MxPEG video clips with audio data and system messages (from a specific time range) as attachment.
Enhanced IP Notify Profiles:
The IP Notify Profiles dialog allows sending data as text or as HTTP data. As with e-mail profiles, IP messages can now include JPEG comments (image data from the JPEG header), JPEG images, MxPEG video clips with audio data and system messages (from a specific time range) as attachment.
Audio
Remote-Controlling the Camera Using Phone Keys
If the camera calls a phone or when calling the camera (see the ISDN Audio Call-In), pressing the "3" key on the phone will toggle camera arming and the complete event control on or off, just like the Arming parameter in the General Event Settings dialog.
The "2" phone key establishes an ISDN dial-out connection (as before); pressing "2" again will close an existing connection.
General Administration
NTP Time Server:
The Time and Date dialog allows setting up to three time servers that provide NTP (Network Time Protocol). The NTP client of the MOBOTIX uses the time server(s) to adjust its real-time clock.
Image controls
New Image Format VGA2:
The new VGA2 image format (640x240 pixels) can be selected using the drop-down menu of the Live screen or in the General Image Settings dialog. This image format offers higher frame rates than VGA (640x480) while requiring about half the bandwidth.

New Events:
The Event Settings dialog provides the following new events:
Recording in MxPEG format With Audio:
The Recording dialog offers three different recording modes:
- Event Recording: Recorded images are stored as MxPEG video clips that also contain the audio track of the camera (Secure models only).
- Continuous Recording: Continuously records video with reduced frame (down to one image every five seconds) and automatically increases the frame rate on events; permanent sound recording. If the camera detects an event, it automatically increases the frame rate to the selected event frame rate.
- Snap Shot Recording Stores the images as JPEG images; the new Pack story option provides optimized server performance as fewer files will need to be opened and closed again.
In Event Recording mode, the camera can automatically retrigger the recording or it can explicitly stop the recording if a certain event occurs.
All of these dialogs now have their own arming switches, which can be set manually in the dialog or automatically, using the camera's Time Tables. The Arming switch in the General Event Settings dialog is special as it represents the master switch to control event control as a whole and also allows using the signal input. In this way, you could activate/deactivate camera arming using a key switch or reed contact, for example.
On top, arming can be toggled on or off from a touchtone phone using the "3" key and the ISDN Audio Call-In features.
History Recording:
If Event Recording or Snap Shot Recording have been set as Recording Mode in the Recording dialog, the camera can store history images at regular intervals. These images can then be viewed in the camera Player and can also be combined to time-lapse recordings using the appropriate tools.
Improvements of the User Interface
Novelties of the ActiveX Component
The ActiveX component of the Live screen has been enhanced and is now also used in the Player screen to play back MxPEG clips with audio data that have been recorded using one of the Recording Modes Event Recording or Continuous Recording.
Automatic Image Update for PDA Screen:
The camera's PDA screen automatically updates the live images of the camera, if the PDA browser supports JavaScript. Clicking into the image will start/stop updating the images.
MxViewer
Layout Editor
The layout editor provides for easy setup of site plans for buildings as it allows importing images as background images. The defined cameras are simply placed on the plan using Drag&Drop.
Quick Events
The mouse-over window (pops up when a camera image is scaled down) shows the last four images when moving the mouse into the upper right corner. Default Folder
All clips, background images and camera definitions can be exported to a folder. This folder can then be copied to other computers and provides a way to use exactly the same configuration and MxPEG_Viewer.exe for viewing MOBOTIX cameras.
Direct File Server Access
The Options > <camera name> tab has a selection box that allows pulling the images directly from the file server (Windows server or Linux/Unix server with Samba) or via the camera.
Other News
- New Export Formats: When saving files, the Sequence of JPGs option allows creating a sequence of single JPEG images instead of MxPEG clips; JPG Snapshot saves the current image as JPEG file.
- Save snapshot in alarm list: Click on this button to store the current image in the event list.
- WAV files: For certain features in the Options > Global, Record and Camera Notify tabs, you can set sounds (either as default beep sound or as a WAV file).
- Colored softbuttons: The softbuttons are automatically downloaded from the current camera, as soon as MxViewer has access to the User access level of the camera (Live screen, Setup Menu).
- Always on top: This option on the Options > Global tab places MxViewer in front of all other applications on the Windows desktop.
- Small frame in Multiview: This option on the Options > Global tab draws a thin frame around every camera or MxPEG clip when viewing more than one camera.
